On a Georgia build, the supporting course matters most where red clay turns soft and rutted after rain. Crushed Concrete fits beneath a driveway, equipment pad, or access surface, where its recycled concrete fragments and fines can form a dense layer under traffic. The angular broken faces help the material stay knit together rather than roll around like clean stone.
For clay-ground projects, prepare the area so water is not trapped beneath the surface, then lightly moisten Crushed Concrete and compact it thoroughly. The fines settle around the larger pieces during compaction, helping the course hold its shape as it is used. This material is intended for a bearing layer, not for French drains or other work that calls for washed, open-graded stone.

Common Uses
Driveway & Parking Pad Base
For fresh or repaired driveways and parking areas, crushed concrete makes a dependable base layer. Place and compact it in lifts to create a load-supporting foundation that helps limit ruts and potholes. It can remain as the driving surface or receive a layer of driveway gravel for a neater appearance, particularly where Georgia red clay gets soft in wet weather.
Roads, Lanes & Site Access
For private roads, farm lanes, equipment yards, and construction entrances, crushed concrete can serve as the supporting base. Heavy trucks and machinery can travel over it, and it provides an all-weather working surface after rain.
Foundations for Patios, Walkways & Pads
Place compacted crushed concrete beneath pavers, walkways, sheds, and hot tub pads to distribute weight and help the finished surface remain level. Compared with native clay, its coarse material allows more water to pass through, limiting water held below the surface. Before setting pavers, install a bedding layer of sand or screenings.
Fill and Backfill
Use crushed concrete as structural fill to bring up low areas, raise grade, or backfill retaining walls and footings. Once compacted, the angular material locks together, helping it resist washouts and muddy conditions that can affect soil fill, especially in Georgia red clay.
Why Choose Crushed Concrete
Cost Compared With Quarried Base
Since it is recycled material, crushed concrete generally costs less per ton than crushed stone base. It is priced below driveway gravel at every order size, helping reduce material cost on large driveways and access roads.
Dense, Stable Compaction
A plate compactor or roller presses the angular pieces and fines together, while old cement paste can help the material bind as it settles. This produces a dense base that resists movement, rutting, and washouts.
Recycled Material
Using crushed concrete puts old concrete to work rather than sending it to a landfill and lowers the need for newly quarried stone. It still provides the support needed below a driveway or road.
Base and Fill Uses
Crushed concrete can be used for driveway and parking pad bases, access roads, patio and shed sub-base, and general fill. A single delivery can supply much of the groundwork for one project.
